A Letter from CEO on COVID-19

By 1st April 2020 News, Press and Media

Dear partners and supporters of Happy Hearts Indonesia,

The world has changed dramatically over the past weeks and months due to this COVID-19 pandemic that has spread across the world. In this challenging situation, we all need to take collective responsibility to limit the contagion and allow our Government and healthcare to take necessary actions.

We carefully monitor the situation and progress of COVID-19 and take various preventive actions based on the recommendations of the local and national authorities to ensure our beneficiaries, partners, and employees are not affected in this incident.

As the majority of schools have closed, we ensure our students especially in remote areas where electronic teaching methods are limited to still continue their learning activities by providing access to school libraries at specified hours. Students can only pick up and return books to the library and follow strict safety protocols before entering the library. In this way, we can protect children’s education while keeping schools safe.

Furthermore, our field team has also provided information to teachers and parents on handwashing and other hygiene practices, making at-home disinfectant sprays and hand sanitizers using common cleaning household products to keep their families and communities safe.

Happy Hearts Indonesia is currently developing an initiative to sustain our program and curb the disruption to children’s education. Happy Hearts Indonesia is running a video gaming marathon to raise funds for school rebuilding in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), and we invite all gamers to become game-changers to help children in NTT to get a better education. For more information about the initiative you can direct to www.happyheartsindonesia.org/gamechanger/ or email at us at change@happyheartsindonesia.org, our staff is available to answer your question or concern.

On behalf of Happy Hearts Indonesia’s team, I would like to let you know that our thoughts are with those who are affected.

Above all, please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Beiwinkler

CEO
