Harnessing Creativity to Rebuild Schools in Needs

Collaboration is at the heart of our work at Happy Hearts Indonesia. We are aware that our efforts to improve the quality of education for underserved children throughout Indonesia require support and assistance from many parties. Our recent collaborations have given us many interesting new ideas that can be implemented to gain much-needed support in our work to help restore hope for the children we serve. Indeed, creativity has been an important part of these efforts, and has elevated our charitable efforts to a whole new level. Fundraising activities can be far more interesting, fun, and effective when carried out in creative ways. This year, we have been fortunate to be able to collaborate with various parties in order to garner support for the #iamchange campaign which aims to rebuild 200 schools in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) within the next five years. Soon after successfully raising funds for the rebuilding of two schools in West Timor through a golf tournament last September, we managed to raise funds to rebuild another school in Flores with the support from Wanda House of Jewels. This well-known jewellery brand had exclusively designed and dedicated 20 diamond necklaces from which 100% of proceeds will be contributed directly towards the school’s reconstruction. This creative initiative has allowed jewellery enthusiasts to channel their passion for beauty while helping the children of NTT at the same time. Continuing on from these diamond necklaces that were transformed into a comfortable classroom for children in Labuan Bajo, Flores, we were again blessed with another wonderful opportunity for collaboration. Earlier this month, with support from several prominent brands in the field of home-styling — BIKA Living, LASVIT, and Indonesian Luxury — we successfully held an art auction in which we sold seven pieces of exclusive artwork by Indonesian and international artists. On that night, we managed to raise enough funds to rebuild four more schools in East Nusa Tenggara. Again, this initiative has successfully bridged art, design and charity in a fruitful and exciting way. In addition to these remarkable fundraising initiatives, our increasing awareness that members of our community are keen to do their parts to support our cause is a continuing source of inspiration for us to hold strong to our mission. We know for sure that this mission could not be accomplished without your generous support. Therefore, we would like to thank you for each and every show of support we have received thus far. As we approach the end of 2018, there are several more upcoming collaborations that we can’t wait to share with you. Above all, we look forward to even more exciting collaborations in 2019, and to pouring our passion and creativity into new ideas to help garner support for the #iamchange campaign. Together, we can rebuild more schools and restore hope for the children of East Nusa Tenggara.
