New School Building Sparks a New Spirit & Hope – A Dream from Nusa Cendana

Did you know that a well-looking-good school can spark the spirit of the students in learning processes? Yes, a well-designed structure and a pleasant environment can improve learning performance, motivation, and concentration. One of the examples on how school building design can affect students’ enthusiasm within learning processes is at PAUD Hobawawi in West Sumba Regency.

Happy Hearts Indonesia in collaboration with Reuben Meyer Trust Fund in 2020 have rebuilt the school for the improvement of quality education and foster community engagement in Weimangoma Village. Before the rebuilding, PAUD Hobawawi only had 20 students and 2 teachers. But shortly after the school reconstruction was completed, the number of students went high to 53 students enrolled and in January 2022, they received additional 2 teachers so in total there are 4 teachers and 53 students.

Hereafter, they received Supplementary Feeding Program funded by the Weimangona Village budget. This activity has been running since January 2022 for 3 times per week. Other than that, they also do a Parent Student Cooperation program where this aims to tighten the parents’ role in empowering children by conducting community service.

To conclude, the importance of building a convenient and well-established school cannot be neglected. Come and support us to build more decent schools in underdeveloped areas in Indonesia!
