Harnessing Land Empowering Community through Financial School Management

Happy Hearts Indonesia believes in creating a vibrant and empowered school community, equipping them with essential knowledge for effective school management. Beyond constructing well-established sustainable schools, we foster resilience, responsibility, and self-reliance. In February 2024, we conducted financial management training for TK IT Bina Insani.

Located in Lombok, we convened the training from 28-29 February while afterwards, we monitored the progress through our standardized system entitled Maintenance Rating System or “MRS”. We measured school impact according to these 4 indicators which covered Infrastructure Maintenance, Community Engagement, School Management, and Teacher-Student Growth.

Through this training, we aim to revolutionize school management, beginning with enhancing administrative efficiency and fostering community engagement through our innovative Nutrition Garden Project. This initiative goes beyond improving school infrastructure; it empowers teachers and students with vital nutrition education, promoting growth and development.

What are the impacts resulting in?

After the training, there is a significant performance improvement, particularly in financial data management, school cooperative, and synergization between stakeholders, it turns out, they are able to develop school development strategy plans and school success maps. Beyond that, it is also impacting learning behavior where the teachers are introducing new learning methods, sustainability-related to the students, particularly in teaching how to cultivate the land and growing vegetables and to shift their behavior to be healthier, since previously they rather often bring noodles.

Not only did they shift the behavior, yet they also got an award from the government, ranked 1st in the Nutrition Garden Movement in Santong Village, Kayangan Sub-District. This recognition from the government is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire school community.

The teachers at TK IT Bina Insani have become role models, sharing their knowledge and experiences with neighboring schools. The students, now equipped with practical skills in agriculture and nutrition, are more engaged in their studies and exhibit healthier eating habits. Parents and community members are also more involved, seeing firsthand the positive impact of the program on their children and the wider community.

Looking ahead, Happy Hearts Indonesia plans to expand the scope of its training programs and initiatives. We aim to reach more schools across Lombok and beyond, replicating the success of TK IT Bina Insani. Our vision is to create a network of empowered, self-reliant schools that are equipped to face future challenges and contribute positively to their communities.

In conclusion, the transformation at TK IT Bina Insani is just the beginning. With continued support and collaboration, we can create lasting change, fostering a new generation of resilient, responsible, and healthy individuals. Join us in this journey of empowerment and growth, and help us build a brighter future for all.
