Sumba is an exotic island situated in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It’s located between Sumbawa and Komodo Island where the total population of this tiny island is 820 thousands. Sumba is known for its wide savanna, limestone hill, and its magnificent waves which suit surf lovers. Accompanied by local values this Island attracts thousands of tourists every year seeking for peace, pleasure, and a playful place to be.
On 13th June 2024, Happy Hearts Indonesia in partnership with Ronald Foundation completed a new eco-building school. SMAK St Yosep Pekerja Manola is the beneficiary of our rebuilding school program which now has new classrooms, toilets with hand washing stations, sports court, and access to clean water and electricity. Other than that, it’s making a significant environmental impact by recycling 6.6 tons of plastic and reducing 15 tons of carbon emissions.
This embarked as a beacon of hope for Sumba Island to pursue quality education through a 3-year development program after the school was rebuilt. We are not merely rebuilding schools, but also equipping them with essential knowledge through intensive training to activate a sense of self-dependency. Let’s embrace and support their journey towards a brighter and more self-sufficient future.
With strong collaboration and dedication to positive change, we are committed to creating a sustainable and inspiring learning environment for the next generation in Sumba. Together, we can make quality education the foundation for a better future, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their dreams and contribute to the development of their community. Join us in transforming lives and building a brighter future for children in Sumba and across Indonesia!
